Optymo's Client/Server architecture makes it easy to implement and manage on any Windows platform within your business infrastructure. Backup and Restore lets you to schedule backups to keep vital data secure and get the system back up in event of a failure. User rights can be configured and managed to keep your system secure and provide the right people with the right functionality. Click here to download the Features and Benefits literature.
Client/Server Architecture
Centralized administration
- Unlike peer to peer where administration is not possible from a central point, using a Client/Server architecture control is centralized. The Server helps to administer the entire set-up and access rights and resource allocation is done by Server.
- All the files are stored in the same location allowing for easy file management. It also makes it easier to find files.
- As the database expands, the workstations do not need to increase their drive space (as may be the case in peer-to-peer systems). Any changes would only be needed on the server where the database exists.
Back-up and Restore is simple
- Since the data is stored on a single server it is easy to make a back-up.
- If a hardware break-down occurs and data is lost, it can be recovered easily and efficiently. In peer to peer computing each workstation needs to be backed up to have the same result.
Upgradability and Scalability
- Changes to the system performance can be made easily by upgrading the server hardware and operating system. Client equipment can be changed gradually.
Accessibility
- Access to the system can be made from various platforms on the network. The server can also be accessed remotely to add more flexibility to the work environment.
Security
- Rules defining security and access rights to the server and to the Optymo database are defined when the server is deployed and can be managed only from the server by an Administrator with the appropriate rights.
Server can play different roles for the business
- The server deployed for Optymo can also be used for other business processes.
- The sharing of the server resources will be transparent to the clients
Saves costs as a single server can run multiple processes and manage many connections simultaneously
Backup & Restore
Backup & Restore provides you with the security of knowing the data that is so important to you will be available all the time.
- Optymo allows you to perform backups on schedules you configure to location(s) that you set and backs up only the data that you want.
- If you already have a backup system in place, the Optymo system can be deactivated and you will have the peace of mind knowing it is available for you to use.
Manage Users
Multiple Profile support
- Allows for almost unlimited number of User Profiles in the system
- Keeps your data safe as only the users who need to manipulate the data can be given the rights to do so.
Multi-User Access
- The Client\Server architecture allows for multiple users to access the system simultaneously.
- Each user will have rights and privileges based on the group they belong to.
- System will provide you feedback on a multiusers deployment whether the changes you want to make can be completed as planned based on other users activities.
- Messaging allows users, with the rights to do so, to send messages to other users logged into the Optymo system (to close the window of the file they want to modify would be one example).
Automated User control
- Automated user control allows the system to release open files within the database that may have inadvertently been left open by a user.
- System will determine that after a given time if a file has not been access by a user the data needs to be saved and the file closed to allow access to it by other users in the system.
- Also, after another amount of elapsed time, if a user is completely idle, the system will automatically log the user out to free up the client license used.
- This feature helps keep the system available to all users and removes the need for the administrator to access the system to determine which user(s) is idle and manually close their session.
